Trauma-Informed Care
Module Description:
This 40-minute module is the fourth of the Sexual Health Course One: Communicating with Patients course. This interactive e-learning module will provide an overview of trauma-informed care, the guiding principles of a trauma-informed approach, and the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences on adult risk behaviors and physical and mental health. It will also provide an opportunity to create an action plan checklist of implementation items for follow-up to create a trauma-informed environment for patients.

Learning Objectives
- Identify the six guiding principles of a trauma-informed approach
- Describe the impact of trauma on overall health
- Explain the impact of ACEs on adult risk behaviors and physical/mental health
- Develop an action plan to create a trauma-informed environment for patients
Target Audience
This activity is intended for physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, pharmacists, and other providers who are engaged in the care of sexual health of patients.
