HIV and Aging: Smoking in Older People with HIV

Module Description
If there is one constant in the field of HIV medicine, it is that of constant change. The science of HIV is an ever-changing landscape of new research findings, new medications with new targets and new side effects. Also, there are new populations affected by the epidemic, such as older adults. Because they face multiple comorbid conditions, older adults need a comprehensive care approach that accounts for the ongoing role of HIV and its treatment in the aging process. This approach should include assessment of overlapping geriatric syndromes, including frailty, disability, multi-morbidities and polypharmacy.
